ABOUT MATT
Matt is a lifelong Cincinnati resident. He graduated from St. Xavier High School and holds a BA in History, MA in Education, MA in Comparative Politics, and PhD in Political Science. With a passion for service, he teaches a number of government and history classes at Elder High School and at Miami University.
Matt has carried his passion outside of the classroom, becoming an active and vocal leader in the community. Standing out as one of the most productive grassroots leaders in Hamilton County, he has used his skills to advocate for government transparency and to be a watchdog of Hamilton County tax dollars. In the summer of 2018, he distinguished himself as one of the public faces of the sales tax repeal effort. After the Hamilton County Commissioners unilaterally raised the sales tax, Matt led a group of activists to collect tens of thousands of signatures in only thirty days in order to give the voters the opportunity to vote on a potential tax increase.
Matt is a frequent contributor to the Cincinnati Enquirer and a regular talk radio guest on 700 WLW and 550 KRC.
Matt considers his family the centerpiece of his life. His mother Donna is a retired teacher of gifted and talented children in the Northwest Local School District. He also has two sisters – Heather, a teacher in the Milford School District and Melissa, a police officer in Clermont County.
